Do I need to have a consultation?
A pre-appointment consultation is completely optional and based on personal preference. It is not a requirement, as we will cover everything in detail during your booked appointment.
However, if you would feel more comfortable having a consultation beforehand, we offer in-person consultations lasting up to 30 minutes for £20.
Feel free to ask questions before your appointment via email/Instagram/Facebook.
Is permanent makeup a safe procedure?
Yes, the strictest hygiene and sterilisation standards are followed and single use pre-packed, sterile needle cartridges are used for each client. We only use pigments, which meet the highest safety standards – and a patch test is performed before treatment.
Can I have the treatment done if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
Unfortunately, we do not offer this treatment to pregnant or breastfeeding women. This is mostly due to the risk of infection; although this is unlikely, we will not take the risk.
Safety comes first over everything.
Is the treatment painful?
Although this depends on every individual's pain threshold, most people report feeling comfortable, and some even fall asleep.
What is the pre-care advice?
Pre-care advice plays a vital role in the healed results and safety of your treatment; therefore, it is essential to follow the pre-care advice to achieve optimal results.
You may wear your everyday makeup on the day of your appointment if you wish to achieve something similar.
If you would like your brows to have a specific style/colour, please bring any brow pencils/brow makeup and pictures as a guideline.
A patch test will be required before undergoing any PMU treatments.
Before the day of your treatment, AVOID the following:
Alcohol/caffeine 48 hours before treatment day (This will minimise any lymphatic oozing/bleeding and swelling after the treatment). Alcohol/caffeine thins the blood and can cause bleeding making it difficult to implant pigment resulting in uneven healed results.
Ibuprofen and aspirin for 48 hours prior
Sunbeds/direct sunlight for a minimum of 7 days, any type of UV tan will cause the skin to prematurely exfoliate effect the healed results.
NO Botox treatments within the last two weeks before treatment.
No blood thinners unless you are on prescription medication.
Tinting/waxing must be carried out at least one week before treatment. It is advised to grow your eyebrow hair as much as possible before treatment.
If you are on any medication/have any current medical conditions, please inform us of these, as some medications/conditions may contraindicate your treatment or require a GP's note.
What is the aftercare?
THE AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS ARE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO ACHIEVE OPTIMAL RESULTS.
Included in your initial treatment price is one retouch session. Any additional retouches after this will be charged a fee of £50 (within 6-8 weeks of your last touch-up appointment).
Thirty minutes after your treatment, clean the treated area with cooled-down boiled water using a clean cotton pad. This will remove any blood and lymphatic fluid from the treated area. Repeat this step two more times, leaving two hourly intervals in between.
This will prevent a lymphatic crust from forming allowing your eyebrows to breathe.
Starting day 2, use an anti-bacterial hand soap (dilute well with water) for the next five days to clean the treated area. Rinse well and pat dry. This will help prevent a bacterial build-up - preventing infection.
DO NOT USE ANY CREAMS, LOTIONS OR POTIONS ON YOUR EYEBROWS!
Permanent makeup is implanted so shallow into the skin that this will affect your healed results.
If required, a healing balm specific for permanent makeup will be provided to you at your treatment; this must be used sparingly to achieve maximum retention - only use the tiniest amount, just enough to create a very thin layer (The brows must not be saturated).
FOR THE NEXT 14 DAYS
-NO EXCESSIVE SWEATING, I.E., GYM, RUNNING ETC (SWEAT = SALT AND THIS WILL PUSH THE PIGMENT OUT OF THE SKIN)
NO PICKING, PEELING OR SCRATCHING! pat lightly if your brows are itchy but ensure you have clean hands!
NO SWIMMING
NO SUNBED
NO SAUNAS
KEEP THE TREATED AREA DRY AT ALL TIMES
NO MAKEUP
NO CREAM OR LOTIONS ON THE TREATED AREA
LONG TERM AFTERCARE
Use a quality sunscreen factor 30+ - sun exposure and sun beds cause the skin to exfoliate, which will exfoliate the pigment from the skin over time and may effect the colour of the pigment.
Avoid using harsh exfoliating products
Do you offer colour boosts/ top ups?
Yes, we can work with existing clients.
If you have previous work done by another artist, we may or may not be able to work over it. This depends on the condition and visibility of the existing work.
To assess whether a cover-up is possible, please send clear, makeup-free photos of your eyebrows before booking an appointment.
If we determine that the existing work cannot be successfully covered, laser removal may be required prior to proceeding with a new treatment.
Who is not a suitable candidate for permanent makeup?
Anyone under the age of 18.
The following conditions may contraindicate or delay your treatment:
Diabetes - a doctor's note will be required.
Epilepsy - the condition must be well controlled with no seizures within 2 years. Bare is mind bright lights are being used throughout the treatment. A doctors note will be required.
Roaccutane - this is an extremely strong medication which puts you at high risk of hypersensitivity, scarring and hyperpigmentation. You must be off the medication for a minimum of 12 months to allow the skin to normalise.
Keloid scarring - No treatment
Blood thinners - A doctor's note will be required for the treatment.
Pregnancy/ Breastfeeding - No treatment.
Haemophilia
Chemotherapy/ radiotherapy - Please allow six months post-chemotherapy/ radiotherapy to ensure your immune system is strong enough to avoid any risk of infection.
Hepatitis (A, B, C, D)
HIV/AIDS
Skin damage/ Sunburn - please allow 2-4 weeks pre and post-treatment for holidays; suntan/sunburn will affect the healing process.
Heart disease
Please bare in mind that specific medications/alcohol use/caffeine intake can thin the blood. This can cause easy bleeding, pushing the pigment out of the skin, which may result in an additional touch-up. May this be required, there will be an additional fee of £50.
If you have any existing work, we may or may not be able to work over it.
We will need to see if your current work can be covered effectively. Please send clear photos of your eyebrows without makeup before booking a new appointment.
If we cannot go ahead with your appointment due to the current condition of your eyebrows, removal may be advised before a new treatment can go ahead.
A doctor's note can be provided for your GP to sign - please get in touch for this.
Is there a top up included?
Permanent Makeup (PMU) is a two-step treatment. You will be required to return for a top-up session 8–10 weeks after your initial appointment.
This top-up is essential to dor finalising the results and ensuring longevity. There is an additional cost of £30 for this session.
How often will I need a top up/ colour boost?
A colour refresh is recommended every 1–3 years. The pigment should have faded by at least 40% before booking a refresh. To avoid oversaturating the brows, which could eventually require laser removal, it’s better to wait a little longer rather than coming in too soon.
If you're unsure whether you're ready for a refresh, feel free to send us a photo, and we’ll be happy to check for you.
Will I require time off work
No, the treated area may be slightly red for a few hours; however, this mainly occurs with sensitive skin clients. Besides this, you should be able to continue your daily life as usual.
How long does the treatment take?
The first appointment is 2.5 hours long. We will spend around 1 hour creating your pre-draw design, and once you are 100% happy, we will continue to the next step.
Included in your treatment cost is one free touch-up session 8-10 weeks later; this appointment is around 1.5 hours long.
Will my results be visible from day one?
Yes, however, your eyebrows will be darker and more prominent for the first week. The final result will be visible from 4-6 weeks once your skin has been through the healing process.
Whom will benefit from permanent makeup?
Anyone over the age of 18 that would like to save time and feel better in their skin.
Permanent makeup can enhance your features with a soft natural look or be applied to replace makeup.
It’s a convenient alternative if you have allergies to conventional makeup or you're sporty and want to look your best without worrying about your makeup smudging or sweating off.
Perfect for those with poor vision or who have difficulty applying cosmetics, it's great if you’ve got a busy lifestyle and don’t have time to practice applying and refreshing makeup throughout the day and evening.
How long does permanent makeup last?
Permanent makeup can last anywhere between 2-5 years. However, longevity depends on age, lifestyle, skin type, aftercare and sun exposure.
The best way to care for your pmu is to wear an SPF 30+ when exposed to sunlight to avoid premature fading.
Clients generally have a top-up every 1-3 years to give the treated area a boost. Top ups are not mandatory yearly and should only be carried out when the permanent makeup has faded at least 40%.
Can I still have my eyebrows done if I have no natural brow hair?
Yes. Permanent makeup is perfect for those with little to no hair, as we can reconstruct your eyebrow. This treatment is also excellent for clients that have alopecia or clients that have had hair loss due to cancer or any other related health condition
I don't know which style will suit me, will you help me choose?
Yes, of course, this is primarily down to personal preference; however, at your appointment, we will do a pre-draw design; this design is created based on measurements from your facial structure.
Remember, your eyebrows are sisters and not twins. A good point to be aware of is that no two sides on one face are symmetrical. However, we will do our best to achieve as much symmetry as possible.
A particular brow style may be recommended based on your current eyebrow hair, shape, colour and thickness. However, the majority of the time, this is a personal preference.
Do I need to get my eyebrows waxed before my appointment?
No, it is advised to leave your eyebrows to grow as much as possible before your treatment; however, if you prefer to wax and tint, this must be carried out at least one week before the treatment.
A wax/tint is recommended every 6-10 weeks. A tint is recommended every so often to boost your eyebrows if you are fair-haired. If your eyebrows go too light, your permanent makeup brows look dull.
Do I need a patch test beforehand?
Yes, a patch test is required a minimum of 48 hours before the booked treatment.
A patch test can be performed within the salon, or this can be posted to you.
The patch test package will include the pre-care advice, a patch test, patch test instructions, medical contra-indications etc.
The form must be signed and returned to your technician at your appointment.
Can I still apply makeup
Absolutely, however, not whilst healing.
Permanent makeup can be created naturally or to replace makeup. This is individual and will be discussed during your consultation.
Ensure to use a baby wipe to remove foundations from the brows to allow your permanent makeup to pop.
Is there a booking fee required to book in?
Yes, booking a permanent makeup appointment requires a £50 booking fee. This is to secure your slot and guarantee that the treatment will go ahead. The fee will be credited towards the remaining balance due on the day of your appointment.
Booking fees are non-refundable and non-transferable; please see policies on the book now page for more info.
